Revelation 12:7-9
Then war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. But the dragon was not strong enough to prevail, so there was no longer any place left in heaven for him and his angels. So that huge dragon—the ancient serpent, the one called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world—was thrown down to the earth, and his angels along with him.
Today, I hope that we recognize one truth: "But the dragon was not strong enough to prevail". Earth is Satan's punishment, it is where he was "cast out" to. Satan loses the angelic war in heaven, and the stage is set for God to introduce mankind to the world. We are the recipients of God's abounding grace and ruthless mercy, in the face of the one who was cast out of heaven. We serve the God whose angels are victorious over Satan, and we are saved from the snare of sin and death by Christ Jesus, God the Son. Delivered from hopelessness, we can rest in the power and authority of Jesus.
