Leviticus 19:33-34

When a foreigner resides with you in your land, you must not oppress him.  The foreigner who resides with you must be to you like a native citizen among you; so you must love him as yourself, because you were foreigners in the land of Egypt. I am the Lord your God.

I can't help but think of "love your neighbor as yourself" when I read this verse. Here nestled in the Old Testament law is a verse that commands love for all who "reside in our land". Because Israel was once slaves and strangers in the land of Egypt, the command is to treat foreigners in their land better - much better than they were treated by the Egyptians. God can and will do amazing things through loving relationship and community. The command to Israel, and to us today, is of love - because God Himself is love.
