2 Corinthians 3:7-11

But if the ministry that produced death—carved in letters on stone tablets—came with glory, so that the Israelites could not keep their eyes fixed on the face of Moses because of the glory of his face (a glory which was made ineffective), how much more glorious will the ministry of the Spirit be?  For if there was glory in the ministry that produced condemnation, how much more does the ministry that produces righteousness excel in glory!  For indeed, what had been glorious now has no glory because of the tremendously greater glory of what replaced it.  For if what was made ineffective came with glory, how much more has what remains come in glory!

The light reveals what is in darkness. The things revealed have always been there, but you don’t know they are there until the light reveals them to you. The idea of light and darkness is used beautifully in the bible to contrast our lives “dead in our transgressions” vs. our lives made righteous in Christ Jesus. This verse describes two different lights of glory – the glory of the law, and the glory of Jesus Christ, that brings righteousness. Both are light, but when the glory of the Lord is unleashed upon the light of the law, it is as if the law is no longer helping light our way. In this way, the law revealed to us our sins and led us to the source of life: Jesus Christ. Once we have come to know the Lord, and we experience relationship living in His light, we are able to lay down the law and become a light unto the world.
